What a cute storage idea! The only materials you absolutely need are a frame and push pins, which leaves a lot of room for creativity!

Materials You Need:
-Frame
-Push pins or sewing pins

Optional Materials:
-Cork board
-Fabric (to cover the cork board)
-Branches

Alternatives to Tree Branches:
-Ribbon
-Rods (plastic, metal, etc.)

Try a floor-length frame and hang the branches different distances apart. (short spaces for bracelets, long ones for necklaces and feather headbands)

If your dorm allows you to decorate your door, consider making a sign. All you need is some paint, a frame, and some stencils of letters.

Tip: If you want to stick with a beach theme, you can glue starfish and sea shells to the frame. Otherwise feathers, flowers, etc. will work!

This is not only a cute idea for your dorm, but also a way to set goals.

Idea 1: As you set a goal (get at least a B on your exams, get a bid for a sorority, start your english paper more than a day before it’s due, etc.) write it on a piece of paper and stick it in the jar. At the end of the semester or year, take them out and read them. This way, you can feel good about the goals you have accomplished. The ones you did NOT accomplish can be a lesson. If you didn’t write your paper before the last minute, you’ll know that procrastination is something to work on for the next semester.

Idea 2: Write a bunch of goals you would like to get done (lose 10 pounds, update your wardrobe, make more friends) and every month draw one randomly from the jar. Keep that goal taped to your mirror so you can see it every day and keep it there until you fulfill it. When you’ve completed that goal, draw another.

What you’ll need:
-Colorful paper (try to match it to your dorm or school colors)
-Pens
-Ribbon
-A clear container (jar, vase, fishbowl, etc)
-Goals

To steal this look (simple, worldly, yet girly) you need knick-knacks. Seemingly random items with a general color scheme bring a quirky but sophisticated vibe.

The three colors used here are pink, yellow, and blue. If you can’t find cool things in the color you’re looking for, consider hitting up Goodwill and spray painting them.

Here are a few ideas if you’re looking for objects in a particular color:

Any color:
-Spray paint an old skeleton key. You can buy them in antique shops, many jewelry supply companies, online. Tip: try etsy.com
-A pocket watch. If you are using a dark color scheme, look for dark metals in a chrome, gold, or dark grey. If you are using light colors such as those in the picture, use light grey metals. Tip: Etsy.com has great choices that are inexpensive. Search ‘pocket watch necklace’ and you can either remove the chain, keep it, or buy a thicker one to keep it looking more like a watch and less like a necklace.
-A simple wooden box. Dark would is appropriate for dark color schemes and light wood obviously goes with light color schemes. Spray paint it or use a stain if you can’t find one that fits what you have in mind. Tip: They’re very cheap at Jo Ann’s and Michael’s.

Dark colors:
-Old books. You can tie them together as shown in the picture or stand them up straight. Older books usually come in darker colors. Hit up Goodwill for these.
-A leather journal. They can be a bit expensive when you buy them from a book store but you can buy faux-leather fabric and wrap any book or journal to get the same effect.
-A skeleton key that is NOT painted.

Light colors:
-Notebooks. Buy cute, colorful notebooks at the drugstore or a book store and stack them. Small, girly journals would work as well.
-A jeweled hair pin or clip.
-A bottle (tall, thin….think “message in a bottle”) filled halfway with sand and sea shells.
-A white starfish.

Idea to steal: While this room is made for a little girl (hence the dress up clothes hanging on the rack) it is sophisticated enough for a college student. To create this look, you’ll need white sheets. A nice white quilt, as seen here, would look lovely. Choose a light color such as baby blue, lavendar, pale yellow, or light pink for a decorative pillow and blanket for the foot of the bed. Girly curtains and white furniture bring the look together.

You could also hang this from a knob on your dresser and use it to hold hairbrushes, makeup, and accessories. Hooks could also be attached to allow you to hang necklaces, scarves, etc.
